Crumb Rubber Powder 10-Mesh

Crumb Rubber Powder 10-Mesh

Crumb rubber with a 10-mesh size is a relatively coarse material compared to finer crumb grades. It consists of small, granular pieces of recycled tire tread, with a particle size around 2,000 microns (2 millimeters).

Process:

Similar to other crumb rubber sizes, there are two main production methods:

Ambient Mechanical Grinding:

  • Scrap tires are shredded into chips.
  • Metal and fibers are removed using magnets and air separation systems.
  • The rubber crumb is then ground in mills. Due to the coarse target size of 10 mesh, fewer grinding passes might be needed compared to finer grades.
  • Screens or air classifiers separate the crumb into different sizes, isolating the 10 mesh fraction.

However, for 10 mesh, mechanical grinding is typically sufficient.

Technical Specifications:

  • Mesh Size: 10 mesh
  • Particle Size: Approximately 2,000 microns (2 millimeters)
  • Fineness: Coarse
  • Other Specifications (may vary depending on supplier):
  • Moisture content: Typically less than 0.2%
  • Ash content: Typically less than 10%
  • Material: Recycled tire rubber (can be natural or synthetic)

Uses:

Due to its larger particle size, 10 mesh crumb rubber is often used in applications where good drainage and some structural integrity are desired. Here are some common uses:

Playground Surfaces: Provides a cushioned and slip-resistant surface under playground equipment.

Athletic Tracks: Used as a base layer for running tracks, offering shock absorption and drainage.

Loose Fill Applications: Can be used as loose fill material in areas requiring good drainage, like around playgrounds or under swing sets.

Civil Engineering Applications: In some cases, it might be used in civil engineering projects for drainage applications or as a lightweight fill material.

Additional Points:

  • 10 mesh crumb rubber is an eco-friendly product utilizing recycled tires.
  • The specific properties can be tailored depending on processing methods and additives.
  • Proper handling is crucial due to potential dust inhalation hazards.
